I was really excited to work alongside the homeowners on the Waterdown home! When I was hired on, they already had the plans drawn up for the new addition, and such a great vision of what they were looking for. The one homeowner custom designs jewellery, and you can see her love for accessorizing throughout the space!
When designing the great room, I really wanted it to be a place the family would love to relax in, and where they would enjoy hosting company. One of my main concerns when working with such a large living space, is that the sitting area can be “too big” making it difficult to carry a conversation with someone across the room. In order to prevent this, I separated the room into two separate sitting areas. This also allowed the TV to be mounted on a side wall, and gave a great sight line to the fireplace when entering the space.
When selecting furniture, I wanted the room to feel balanced while each side was still unique and had its own look. I love how the TV side has a more masculine feel, and the opposite side is more airy and feminine!
We installed pendant lights to help define each of the sitting areas.
The bathroom walls were finished in shiplap to give some character. I love the texture that it adds! The beautiful tiles were picked out by the client, and they are totally the focal point when you walk in.
Instead of doing custom built ins for storage, we went with this wardrobe. I love how it looks in the space!
We also went with white shiplap in the back hall. I love how my clients finished off this space, with the herringbone tile and dutch door! She also was able to reuse this cabinet which which really adds to the space.
