We often get hired by clients who are happy with their home and the layout, but are just looking for some more character and that custom home feel. One of my favourite ways to add in that interest and detail is on the ceiling. As the ‘fifth wall’ it often gets forgotten, but is a really great way to ‘divide’ open living spaces, draw attention to high ceilings, and give a room more layers and depth. Here are my favourite ways to design a ceiling!
Beams are my favourite ways to help distinguish separate areas in an open concept floor plan!
Coffered ceilings takes beams to the next level, and can give a bit more of a high end feel!
Shiplap ceilings add so much texture and are great if you don’t have a lot of ceiling height to work with!
Tray ceilings are can be more minimalistic on their own, or paired up with another detail for a more layered look!
Wallpapered ceilings are another great option if you don’t have a lot of height to work with. I love how it adds some pattern to a room, and doesn’t feel too serious!
