I can’t believe we are already a week into the ORC! (If you missed the post from week 1, you can see it here.) We have been busy over here demoing my sons bedroom and getting it ready for the new trim and hardwood. Yay!! I absolutely love the look of White Oak flooring with an oil finish and knew it was what I wanted to incorporate. There are so many beautiful pre finished floors to choose from, however to save some cost but not sacrifice the look, we decided to go with a 5″ unfinished White Oak plank and finish it in the Rubio 5% White stain. I am beyond excited to be participating as a guest designer in this years fall One Room Challenge! We moved into our new house just over a month ago, and I have a long list of design projects that I would love to check off. For this challenge, I was able to narrow it down to my sons bedroom. The existing space had laminate floors and dated light fixtures. However, the exposed brick fireplaces and original decorative trim where the perfect base for the design.
I was really excited to work alongside the homeowners on the Waterdown home! When I was hired on, they already had the plans drawn up for the new addition, and such a great vision of what they were looking for. The one homeowner custom designs jewellery, and you can see her love for accessorizing throughout the space! When designing the great room, I really wanted it to be a place the family would love to relax in, and where they would enjoy hosting company. One of my main concerns when working with such a large living space, is that the sitting area can be “too big” making it difficult to carry a conversation with someone across the room. In order to prevent this, I separated the… Read more »
