Since completing my son Jack’s bedroom last fall, I have been counting down till the Spring One Room Challenge, and am so excited it has finally started!! Here is how the space currently looks:
Over the last couple months I have been throwing ideas around for Coco & Flora’s bedroom. Since both our girls are Spring babies, I wanted to incorporate elements that reflect that in the design. We had replaced the flooring and trim, and patched some drywall last fall. I’ve been dying to paint it, but have been SO indecisive on which direction I want to go for the design. Originally, I had planned on doing a shiplap ceiling, but then thought wallpaper would be so pretty and add some pattern. I was set on doing that until a couple weeks later I thought about wallpapering all the walls! It seemed like the perfect option until I thought about where we would start and stop the wallpaper around the angled walls, so then I was back to the ceiling. After searching high and low for the perfect wallpaper and coming up with nothing I decided to just paint the ceiling pink. It would be pretty and perfect for two little girls! That was what I was set on for the last couple weeks until my sister found some adorable stencils and gave me the idea of stencilling a design on the ceiling. So now I’ve decided to go with the cutest bumble bee stencil in gold on the ceiling….or at least I’m pretty sure!
Here is the concept that I have been revising over the last couple of months. For the colour scheme, I wanted to keep it really soft and bright. My 4 year old has asked that everything could be pink, so I’m thinking of going with blush window treatments, bedding and rug (hopefully that’s enough pink for her ;). I also wanted to incorporate a really light blue as a secondary accent colour, and mix stripes, florals and buffalo check patterns. I found the most adorable bunny table lamp, and bunny pillow that will also be included in the space!
We are planning to get all the painting done this weekend, and fingers crossed it doesn’t take us 5 times longer then I’m anticipating.
Don’t forget to follow along all the other great designers to see their room transformations!
