It’s been just over a month since we finished our living room for the One Room Challenge, and it has quickly become our favourite spot in the house! All of the little details that make up the space made all those late nights of planning and construction so worth it! One of the decisions I am so glad we made was to go with custom drapery! I have sourced custom window treatments in the past for clients, and now that I have fallen in love with them in my own home they will definitely be my preferred choice!
Working with Q. Design to make my vision happen was such an easy process! I had a really good idea of what I was looking for and after describing it to Lindsay, she sent me 4 white fabric samples in the mail to choose from. I’m so glad I was able to see the fabrics in person. Its crazy how different the colour can look depending on its surroundings. Even though they were all white, against our white walls some of them looked more pink or yellow. After holding them up in different lights, I decided to go with their Grace Linen in Glacier, which was a great colour match and had a really pretty subtle texture.
Ordering something custom always is a little stressful. Knowing that you can’t simply return or exchange the item if you get the wrong measurement can be scary. I have to say, Q. Design made this part so easy and straight forward! They were more then happy to help walk me through it, and provided me with an image showing exactly what measurements I needed to provide to ensure they would fit the space. It was so nice to be able to hang them and not have to worry about getting them hemmed or living with 5″ of pooling on the floor (yay!!) they are truly a PERFECT fit!
I also can’t express enough just how beautifully made they are! All of their window treatments come fully lined, and you have the option of going with a cotton or blackout lining at no extra charge. Our window isn’t super wide, so I love how the lining and pleating still makes the drapes look really full when they are open!
As a bonus, they also offer window hardware. They were able to suggest a rod length and provide the correct number of drapery rings for my room. I went with the black finish and love how bulky it is in the space.
They’ve recently redesigned their website making is even easier to price out what you need, and shipping is always free for both Canada and continental US. If you are looking for drapery, shades, bench seats or decorative hardware, go check them out, they will be able to make your design dreams happen!
