I almost wrote “Week Two” for the title of this blog post. How are we already halfway through this challenge?! It is flying by, and I cannot wait to see this room all done in 3 weeks! (If you haven’t yet read week ones post you can see all the design plans here!) I’m really excited with the progress we made this past week! We finished painting the walls, ceiling and trim. Part of me really wanted to paint the walls pink, but just couldn’t see it working with the rest of the design, so I opted to paint everything white. We went with Simply White by Benjamin Moore to keep it consistent with the trim and wall colour throughout most of our… Read more »

One Room Challenge – Week One
Since completing my son Jack’s bedroom last fall, I have been counting down till the Spring One Room Challenge, and am so excited it has finally started!! Here is how the space currently looks: Over the last couple months I have been throwing ideas around for Coco & Flora’s bedroom. Since both our girls are Spring babies, I wanted to incorporate elements that reflect that in the design. We had replaced the flooring and trim, and patched some drywall last fall. I’ve been dying to paint it, but have been SO indecisive on which direction I want to go for the design. Originally, I had planned on doing a shiplap ceiling, but then thought wallpaper would be so pretty and add some pattern. I was… Read more »
One Room Challenge – Room Reveal
I had way too much fun designing this room for my little boy, and am so happy with the ORC transformation over the last 6 weeks! My starting point for the design was an equestrian feel. I didn’t want it to be over powering, but loved the boyish combination of leather, shiplap and plaid! I also really wanted to personalize the space for him, and incorporate some of his favourite things. (If you haven’t seen the before images yet, you can view them here!) We were working down to the wire on installing the shiplap ceiling, but it was so worth it! I love the texture and character it adds to the space. We ended up going with 8″ MDF planks and installed… Read more »
One Room Challenge – Week Five
We are nearing the end of this challenge, and I’m more then excited to see this boys bedroom come together! We’ve received a bunch of shipments over the last couple of days and are just waiting on some final items (fingers crossed they arrive in time!) By the way, I love how the floor turned out!! And the process was so much easier then I thought it would be. With just under a week to go, we have so many final details to complete (and are starting to feel the pressure!) Here’s is our checklist of what we hope to get done over the weekend: 1. Install and paint shiplap ceiling 2. Paint chalkboard wall 3. Paint trim 4. Replace… Read more »
One Room Challenge – Week Three
The flooring went in this week, and we have started ordering all the furnishings for my sons bedroom. I’m dying to see them all together in the space! (If you missed my posts for weeks one and two for the One Room Challenge, you can read them here and here.) The room currently has a really plain flushmount, which will be replaced with this schoolhouse light fixture from Rejuvenation. I love the vintage feel it has, and the combination of black metal and milk glass! I am also on the hunt for a vintage turkish rug. I had one picked out but sadly it sold before I could snag it up! Hoping I can find one in time that is the… Read more »
