We often get hired by clients who are happy with their home and the layout, but are just looking for some more character and that custom home feel. Lately I’ve been pinning just about every nook I come across on Pinterest. I can’t get enough of how much detail you can pack into such a little area, and how much of a bonus space it can be. Here are my top five ways to fill those awkward corners so they reach their full potential!

This past fall, I shared the reveal for our One Room Challenge living room makeover, and was getting so many questions about the fireplace mantel and how we got the look. I loved this style for a while, and loved the idea of it made from concrete. I drew out the design for Steve in the morning and he left to go get all the supplies to make a mould. This would have been his first time ever making something out of concrete, and after talking it over with my grandfather (who’s done it a bunch of times) he decided it would be a really tough piece to try on his first attempt. I hope you all had a good week, and are enjoying your weekend! We spent today at home baking and relaxing which is always the best after a busy work week. I love everything pumpkin, and tried out this muffin recipe today which uses maple syrup as a sweetener. I can see them becoming a favourite in this house!
