This project started as an out dated bungalow. Our clients found an old home, with a good foot print, in a great neighbourhood and asked us to come in to redesign it. To check off all the items on their wishlist, we took it back down to the foundation and built it as a two storey home. Our team took care of the full design, development of permit drawings and application, and managed the construction. (You can learn more about our process and how to work with us here!) It was such a great process to be part of, and we are so thankful to our clients for trusting us with their home! These are the kind of houses that… Read more »

The Terpstra’s Kitchen Reveal
I’m sharing the final room reveal (for now) from our main floor remodel. As far as design goes, this space is my favourite room in our home. I had been dreaming up ideas and saving away images for it over the last few years, and it’s been exciting to see it come together. the Befores If you read the last few posts on our home, you might have seen our original kitchen layout. It was in the middle of our home overlooking the backyard. The overall size felt small, mostly because there were doorways leading into the foyer, dining room and back hall. There were also bulkheads over all the upper cabinets and a tower at the end of the… Read more »
The Terpstra’s Mudroom Reveal
I’m excited to finally be sharing the second part of our main floor remodel. It’s not the craziest before and after, but I love how it transformed one room into a super functional space for our family. the Before When we moved into our home 5 years ago one of the rooms I was excited to gain was an office space. We worked from home at the time, and I loved the idea that we could go somewhere quiet to sit. However over the years both Steve and I gravitated towards working at the kitchen table or at a coffee shop, and the home office became more of a storage room for work items. Once we moved into an office… Read more »
The Terpstra’s Foyer Reveal
I’m so excited to finally be sharing the first room from our main floor reno. We started demo last January, and completely redid every room except for our front living room. (We had made over that room a few years earlier for the ORC. You can see it here!) With some delays and after waiting on some products we were finally ready to photograph it at the end of 2021. To be honest, I didn’t mind waiting a bit longer for some of the pieces I had originally picked out. We had waited 5 years to do this reno, and a few more months to get the products we loved really didn’t bother me! the Before Here is how the… Read more »
Room Edit No. 2 – A Dining Room for Hosting
We’ve finished our second room edit, and I’ve been so excited to share this one with you all! Our client was looking to design an inviting space where she could host family and friends around a large dining table. Here’s how the space started: The space was recently renovated and just waiting to be fully furnished. The light finishes in the room and large window made me excited to introduce some deeper and moodier tones! The starting point in the room was the large area rug. It helped fill the space and added some interest with the soft moss tones and pattern. The flat weave also makes it forgiving with food and spills. The Jacobo dining table gave… Read more »
