I loved having the opportunity to design this Parisian inspired cafe, and loved that the client wanted to go with more of an elegant style! The pretty details are so different from the industrial and rustic design that is usually seen in Hamilton.
The existing space had laminate floors and dated light fixtures. However, the exposed brick fireplaces and original decorative trim were the perfect base for the design.
We styled the mantel with books, vases and nic nacs to make the space feel more like home and less like a coffee shop.
We framed images of old book covers. Not only did they add some colour against the white backdrop, but they also show that it is a space where you can relax and enjoy a good book or magazine. I love the detail and character the swing arm wall sconces add to the space!
The green grey herringbone banquettes have to be one of my favourite design details! They were done in a distressed finished to make them look like an antique piece.
We continued the antique grey green on the service counter, and I love how it looks with the gold detail of the glass display case!
Of course, we couldn’t leave before having some of their loose leaf tea and freshly baked scones!
